HALEY CROPPER TO START CHARITY WALK, Sunday May 10th 2009

Julie Hesmondhalgh who plays Haley Cropper in Coronation Street will start the 4th Great Charity Walk for the Rotary Club of Church and Oswaldtwistle. The 7.5 mile sponsored walk will take place along the banks of the Leeds to Liverpool canal and the surrounding area of Accrington. The walk will follow a circular route and will start at Junction 7. North West Air Ambulance asks Oswaldtwistle for Help

The North West Air Ambulance is the region's only air emergency service and needs funds to keep this vital life saving service airborne. The registered charity receives no mainstream funding and relies entirely on donations. Hyndburn Council will donate 75 pence of every pound generated by your donated textiles directly to North West Air Ambulance.

Hyndburn Council are currently collecting your unwanted textiles along with its fortnightly recycling collections.

Stanhill Dancers Raise £600 For Charity

Margaret Jones runs sequence dancing to support the local church and other charities. She runs dance lessons on Saturday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 to 10 at Stanhill Methodist Church.

The dancing lessons have proved to be so popular that the Saturday lesson is fully subscribed but there is room at the Tuesday lesson and some at the Wednesday lesson. It is not surprising they are so popular because the charge of £1.50 also includes tea, coffee and biscuits.

Lottery Funding For Friends of Rhyddings Park

Friends of Rhyddings Park have received £9,100 lottery funding from Breathing Places to develop an exciting bird box project.

The project will involve working with all the local schools around the park and will create exciting and unusual new bird boxes.

The project will start in September through to Spring. The full project will bring ornithologists into the park who will conduct walks and workshops.
